Hi everyone,

To follow up on Catherine's example and Suzanne's demand for more, came to my mind Cronenbegr's movie eXistenZ (1999) where the "pod" (a new kind of playstation) directly plugged into the body, allows players of virtual-realitygames to enter virtual spaces of the game. The design of the pod is very muchrelated to Piccinini's pets. In the movie, Allegra Geller (Jennifer JasonLeigh) a star game designer behave with the pod as if it was a pet : when it is damaged, she expresses feelings - angst - as she would for her favorite cat orso. Humans relationship with the pod is very complex, as it is connectedthrough a cord which really looks like an umbilical cord it is related topre-oedipian connection with the mother, then the plug in the body is extremely sexualized, especially as Allegra Geller lubes the brand new orifice-plug inthe body of her fellow partner the bio-technology image, here, suggests aregressive experience into a virtual world where matrix seems to have a literal as well as a metaphorical meaning.

I couldn't attach images, you can find a few there :
